What were you doing before training?
What inspired you to be Nail Technician?
I wanted a career where I could build something for myself while making people feel good. After working in childcare for years, I realised I wanted more flexibility and the opportunity to be my own boss. Nails gave me the chance to combine creativity with creating a positive experience for every client.
What was holding you back from training?
The biggest thing holding me back was confidence. I worried that I wouldn’t be good enough and was scared of making mistakes. After spending years in one industry, changing careers felt overwhelming. I also have OCD, so stepping into the unknown wasn’t easy, but I’m so glad I pushed myself to do it.
Why did you chose to train with By Jessica Morris?
I loved Jess’s work and knew she was the best. My mum and I used to have our nails done by Jess together, and when I showed my mum that Jess was offering training, she said, “If you’re going to train with anyone, it’s got to be Jess.” The quality of her work is incredible, and she’s so friendly and easy to talk to.
What was training like for you?
It was a brilliant day! Jess is incredibly patient and easy to talk to, so I never felt silly asking questions. She always made sure I understood everything before moving on. As I’m a very visual learner, she even guided my hand while I was applying product, which helped me so much. The support after the course has been amazing too. Jess was understanding of my OCD and guided me through all my worries about sterilisation. I’ve completed both the 1-1 course and the E-file course, and I couldn’t recommend them enough.
Where you are now?
I’m now a full-time nail tech. I left my nursery job not long after qualifying, and now my books are nearly full with clients. I’ve built up such lovely regulars who support me so much, alongside all my friends who proudly wear my work on their nails.
What have you achieved or are most proud of since qualifying?
I’m most proud of how much I’ve pushed myself over the last year. Leaving a secure job for something completely unknown was a huge leap, but it’s been the best decision I’ve made. I’ve pushed myself to promote my business, even though my fear of failure was huge, and I’ve become so much more confident talking to new clients, who now feel more like friends. I’m also really proud of how much my nail sets and nail art have improved. I’m naturally very hard on myself, so building my confidence has probably been my biggest achievement.
What are your Plans for the future?
I’d love to continue growing my business and building my social media. I want to keep improving my nail art skills, learn new techniques, and make sure the quality of my work keeps getting better. I’d also love to expand into other beauty treatments in the future.

I trained with Jessica back in August for gel polish and builder gel and it was the best decision I have ever made! The kit was perfect and had everything I needed to start out. Jessica is so so lovely and the way she teaches the course is perfect! The demonstrations really help with understanding the process. I honestly can’t thank Jess enough as just 5 months later, I am a full time self employed nail tech working in a busy recognised beauty salon!

I was already previously trained by someone else and came to Jess for a bit more knowledge and to help get more confident and quicker in my work. Jess is lovely and so full of knowledge. Helped me pick up my speed with doing infills and taught me tips and tricks I wasn’t taught in my original training. Definitely worth doing as an extra bit of training to get your confidence up 💖

Training with Jess was by far the best decision I made and has set me up in such a good stead for my nail career. I chose the ultimate one day course and although it was a little more money, I got her undivided time and attention to allow me to really develop and learn everything that I needed to. No question was too big or too small for Jess. She made me feel so welcome and at ease and I left feeling ready to start 🫶🏻 Jess provided me with absolutely everything I needed in my kit, including a helpful guide which I still look back at now if I’m stuck! I was put into the graduates whastapp group and am able to ask Jess and the girls for any tips, tricks and advice whenever I need it. I couldn’t recommend Jess and her courses enough!
