What were you doing before training?
What inspired you to be Nail Technician?
To be totally honest, it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do. I always knew I wanted to do something creative, but after trying to sell custom paintings and prints, I always came to a creative block and it just never seemed to work out. Then I fell down the nail art rabbit hole online and that was it! I really liked the social aspect of it too, so being a nail tech was perfect for me because I love to chat just as much as I love to paint!
What was holding you back from training?
Between having my first baby and already working another job, starting a nail career felt pretty much impossible. Doing something for myself felt like a massive risk, but I went for it and I’m so glad I did. I really hope I can show just one other new mum that you can still chase your own passions too.
Why did you chose to train with By Jessica Morris?
Jess is so knowledgable and the support she offers throughout and long after the course is invaluable. On a personal note, Jess has been so friendly and approachable, and you can tell she genuinely wants the best for her students.
What was training like for you?
Jess was so lovely and made me feel welcome straight away. I felt comfortable to ask any question and take my time with the training. I would definitely recommend!
Where you are now?
I currently do nails part time alongside another job.
What have you achieved or are most proud of since qualifying?
I’m really proud of how far I’ve come with nail art. Nail art is a whole different ballgame to painting on a canvas, and it’s definitely harder than it looks! Although it’s daunting trying something new, I try to push myself to give every design a client brings in a go and along the way I have shown myself I am capable.
What are your Plans for the future?
I’m enjoying doing nails part time, so my current plans are just to continue building on my nail skills and knowledge! The industry is always changing and I’ve found being open to learning and adapting is key. I’m looking forward to seeing how much further I can progress!

I trained with Jessica back in August for gel polish and builder gel and it was the best decision I have ever made! The kit was perfect and had everything I needed to start out. Jessica is so so lovely and the way she teaches the course is perfect! The demonstrations really help with understanding the process.
