What were you doing before training?
What inspired you to be Nail Technician?
I've always wanted to do something creative with my career and have always had my nails done by my lovely friend, and was always so inspired about her starting up her new business and being able to work around times that suited her. A big thing that inspired me also was my daughter; with my current work, my work life balance wouldn't work around wanting to spend time with my daughter and my family. So if I could do something that allows me to be with my family more whilst also working doing something I love, then it is a big win for me. I also want her to know that you can take risks in your life, and to be able to look at her mum and know that she can do anything she puts her mind to, and that sometimes big risks pay off.
What was holding you back from training?
The fear of starting something new, and feeling like I wasn't going to be good enough to start my own business or start doing nails, as I massively fear disappointing others or taking risks. Normally I would shy away from things that I feel are going to be hard or push me out of my comfort zone, and would give up when things get tough, but with a mentor like Jess to keep pushing you, I have definitely made the right move starting this journey.
Why did you chose to train with By Jessica Morris?
I had been following Jess for a while now; for nail art inspo for my next set, from hearing about her from friends and family, and from recommendations from others on where to start my nail journey. I had heard from my sister-in-law that so many people had recommended Jess to her, so she sent me Jess's Instagram on her training and I was hooked from then on.
What was training like for you?
Amazing! The online training was so easy to navigate and was full of so much useful information and guidance. From how to properly care for other's nails, to how to safely do a diabetic client's nails (I would never have known the importance of using metal tools on the nails of clients with diabetes), to how to apply for the correct insurance and where to look for the best places to get it from. So much information that I would never have known to look out for. Plus being able to do the course online from the comfort of my own home whilst on maternity leave, and being able to ask Jess any questions, any time day or night. I would 100% recommend the online training. You get to learn on the go, at your own pace, from the comfort of your own home, and Jess is just the loveliest person ever, always replying as soon as she can with the most helpful advice and handy little tips and tricks.
Where you are now?
Right now I am finishing model sets to build my portfolio, and will now be charging for sets and currently have a full diary of clients ready to have their nails done. I never thought I'd get this far, so to be able to say I have people waiting for appointments is a massive deal.
What have you achieved or are most proud of since qualifying?
What I am most proud of since qualifying is the fact that I already have 3 people who have told me they are going to keep coming back to me and that I am now their "new nail lady", and that I've made them become obsessed with getting pampered again, which makes me so happy.
What are your Plans for the future?
Right now I am setting up a system for my bookings, and also setting up a post with updated pricing and my availability. So exciting!

I trained with Jessica back in August for gel polish and builder gel and it was the best decision I have ever made! The kit was perfect and had everything I needed to start out.
